This Morning’s Fear and Reminder of the Pandemic

This morning, I felt a wave of fear when I opened social media. I know that right now, the pandemic is becoming dangerous again because of a new variant. The number of people infected is rising sharply, and hospitals are once again filled with patients.

Last year, masks were the most important thing we had to wear so much that their prices skyrocketed. Irresponsible people sold them at ridiculous prices, as if masks would disappear tomorrow. It was crazy, unbelievably crazy.

People started panic buying things like UC 1000 and Bear Brand milk believing they could boost immunity.

And this morning, I saw two influencers I follow post about the current surge in COVID-19 cases.
One was organizing a donation campaign, and the other was posting about oxygen.

Why raise donations?

Why post about oxygen?

Because during a pandemic, helping others becomes more important than ever sharing information, spreading awareness, and providing whatever assistance people need.

Oxygen has now become incredibly hard to find both new cylinders and refills. I knew cases were rising again, but I never thought we’d reach the point where oxygen would be as scarce as masks were last year. Oxygen is now one of the most crucial needs for patients infected with this virus.

Why?

Because this virus attacks the lungs, causing severe shortness of breath. Patients struggle to breathe, and oxygen becomes their lifeline.

One of the influencer’s posts this morning really broke my heart. In the comments, a follower wrote that they lost their father while searching for oxygen. Yesterday, I saw another post on Twitter about a patient being treated at home because the hospitals were already full.

So, if any of you have information about oxygen tanks or refills, please share it on your social media. We can help those who are desperately looking for oxygen right now something so basic yet so hard to find, and when available, it’s often sold at extremely high prices.

It’s not just COVID patients who need oxygen. Many others with different illnesses do too like my father, who often has difficulty breathing due to his health condition.

Maybe not many people will read this post, but if even one person finds useful information here, I’ll be very happy. Right now, information is what we all need most. You can help COVID patients by sharing verified details about hospitals that are still accepting patients or places that sell or refill oxygen tanks.

REMEMBER:
What’s needed is valid information, not rumors or hearsay.

If you’re currently looking for oxygen, try checking Arief Muhammad’s Instagram post many of his followers are sharing updated info on where to buy or refill oxygen tanks.

For those who wish to donate, Rachel Vennya is organizing a fundraising campaign to help patients and medical workers fight this virus. You can check her Instagram profile for more details.

Please, everyone stay safe, keep wearing your mask, and continue following health protocols.

Even if you can’t physically help others, at least don’t spread harmful opinions like “COVID is just a conspiracy.”
